these are saguaro cacti. they serve as homes to many animals such as birds, tarantulas and who knows what else. they are beautiful to photograph because they look so lonely and independent. i read that they are most prevalent in the sonoran desert area. at certain times a day they appear like an army as they cast their massive shadows. i want to go on a road trip an see them all lined up.
